What is Universum?

Universum is a tactical duel played on a flat-topped board of hexagonal tiles. Before a match you build a loadout: up to five pieces and a 40-card deck. Your pieces are your life total. Lose them all and you lose the game, so every position matters.

Each piece fills a role: tank, damage, healer, or support. Each carries its own abilities and traits. Abilities have real targeting shapes: projectiles that need line of sight, cones, chains that bounce between targets, links that tie two pieces together, and areas of effect. Where you stand decides what you can hit and what can hit you.

You power all of it with mana from biomes you place on tiles you control. Biomes come in four colors: radiant, storm, corporeal, and void. Each color pays for different pieces, cards, and abilities. As your pieces walk across the board they flip the tiles they cross to your side, letting you capture territory and the biomes on it.

On top of your pieces you play cards from hand (direct spells, summons, hazards, and more) and attach augments that modify a piece's abilities by matching tags, so a single augment can reshape a whole kit (in the spirit of Path of Exile support gems). It adds up to a game with the deckbuilding and mana of a card game, the ability kits of a MOBA, and the positioning of a tabletop wargame.

New to it? The client ships with an in-game tutorial that walks you through movement, mana, abilities, and cards before you play a real match.
